I was lucky to be part of a PTA unit where parents were super engaged and ready to help anytime…we had a standing-only room at our monthly PTA meetings,…. and our mailboxes overflowed with generous donations…., that was my dream the night before I started out as the PTA president at my daughter’s school!
Don’t get me wrong, we did have a wonderful community of parents who were very involved and engaged, but they were also time-constrained and perhaps burdened and hassled with filling up dozens of Google Doc and other online forms that we were sending their way. I, for sure, did not enjoy creating those forms and wrestling with multiple Excel spreadsheets to match up the data. Group organizing was getting out of hand, with committee members spending hours creating forms, sending out reminders, tracking data, and managing spreadsheets.
And that is why our mission is to make group organizing not only an easy process but a DELIGHTFUL one, both for parents as well as for the creators of the signups.
Beautiful SIGNUPS, simple layouts
To start with, Group signups created on Oroola are simply beautiful, with free, high-resolution images for themes and well laid out schedule and tasks. You can find themes for volunteering, fundraisers, parties, carnivals and several other events.
For anything that requires group organization
Group signups on Oroola are as versatile and flexible as an animal balloon – bend it one way you have one animal, twist it another way and you have completely different animal. Admins and room parents can create signups for a variety of tasks and events.
- Request food donations for a classroom party or potluck
- Recruit parent or student volunteers for events
- Schedule parent-teacher conferences
- Recruit volunteers for Exec board roles
- Sign up for field trip chaperones
- Or anything else that requires a group to select options and to sign up
Once created, signups can be easily duplicated and edited for quick creation of similar future signups.
Invite Anyone, We MEAN ANYONE
Admins can create custom invitee list, either for just a handful of members by searching for their name, for classrooms/grades/groups, or for the entire school. They can even share the signup via a secure shareable link with non-Oroola members. This makes it easy to invite and recruit high school students and non-school community members for volunteering.
No More excuses for lost or forgotten invites
Parents can easily view upcoming signups on their school or classroom wall on Oroola, and sign up with just two clicks. No need to manually type in child, school, or teacher information, ever, again! Automatic in-app and email notifications and reminders are sent out to all the members. So no more, “Oh, I so wanted to come and help, but I completely forgot to set a reminder”
Real-time status and helpful insights
Signup creator is automatically notified when slots are filled up or they can choose to monitor the status in real time by logging into Oroola. They can then download ONE report with all the information about the signees, their children, grade, and teacher information. No need for parent/student/teacher/grade match up exercise through Excel spreadsheets.
If you have volunteers waiting in line, fighting it out with each other to help you with your school events, then just ignore what you just read, but if you think you could use some help getting parents to be more involved in your school, then give us a holler.
